Friends:

It’s hard to believe we’re nearly halfway through 2020. That this year has been an adventure is an understatement.

Over the past few weeks, I have talked and prayed with many of you and I look forward to speaking with each of you in the near future.

That this year will continue to have challenges I have no doubt. But with these challenges have come some amazing opportunities. We’ve shared the hope of the gospel with 200+ active duty military service members at free outdoor adventures and delivered a message they don’t hear often; that every one of them matters!  We’ve also provided lunch and chaplain support for more than 800 service members at bases in Southern California.

Furthermore, the closing of national parks and other recreation locations prompted us to explore new ministry opportunities with other service branches at Ft Hood Texas, and in Colorado Springs; something that has always been on our heart to do. Our growing network of military leaders, chaplains, and others interested in reaching active duty service members with the gospel through outdoor adventure is opening some incredible doors. As a result, we’re making plans to host soldiers from Ft Hood at free events later this year. We’re also exploring similar opportunities in Colorado Springs and elsewhere.

The Bible says in Isaiah 6:8 “Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?” John Eldredge in his book Wild at Heart puts it another way by asking, “are we willing to live at the level of risk that God invites us to?" A question we must each grapple with.

We greatly appreciate your support and prayers for SSO and our active duty military service members. As always, I would love to connect with you if you would like to hear more or to share how you can join our monthly financial support team.

Thank you for heeding the call, being part of our support team, and helping Soul Survivor Outdoor be an organization that says “send me!”

Semper Fi,

Rick
